About Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA)

The Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA) - or Sex & Samfund in Danish - was founded in 1956 as a private, non-commercial organization without political or religious affiliations. It is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) – the biggest Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) federation in the world with 152 member associations working in 172 countries.

DFPA is a membership based organisation and is governed by a board. The organizational strategy for 2016-2020 sets out the direction for DFPA’s strong national and international engagement in the fight for a world, in which sexual and reproductive health and rights are respected as a fundamental element of human well-being and sustainable development. To achieve this, DFPA works through partnerships, strategic alliances and strong networks in Denmark, Europe, and the world.

DFPA’s priority areas cover a wide range of interventions and initiatives – nationally and internationally - including advocacy efforts to change legislation, policies and gain societal support; education, awareness raising and counselling; quality service delivery; as well as communication, campaigns, and mobilization with the aim to foster public support.

Internationally, we have regional partners in Asia and national partners in 7 African countries.
